DSN Christchurch

Upon landing in Christchurch my taxi driver was thoroughly immersed in a book. On asking what he was reading, the first words I heard in Christchurch were… "Murder." Was this to be a macabre city of untold stories?!

My destination was the brand new ilex centre in the Botanical Gardens, it's so new that finding it was as much a discovery for locals as it was for visitors. The roofline mirrored the botanical gardens; alive and healthy with new plant life growing in a perfect environment. Peter Townsend our first speaker gave the impression that all of Christchurch is an extensive greenhouse for growth, albeit in early stages. If I had any qualms about wondering what kind of place this is, all 'Urban Myths" were laid to rest leaving space for only the positive. With a quest for rebuilding through the "front door" to see the remaining 93% of the rebuild through a structured and positive process of betterment. The efficacious and progressive nature of Christchurch certainly left me feeling this is a landscape worth investing in.

Christchurch you have been brilliant hosts, active in your participation in design and construction discussions and all matter of topics which follow!  All of us at the Design Solutions Network extend a thank you to everyone who joined us and discovered new products and made new contacts for residential rebuilds and commercial planning. Do contact any of our sponsors, with the number of business cards exchanged I'm sure there is plenty of action to follow!
